DISTRIBUTION 4762466 - Caterpillar

1 Remove hitch (1) from the machines; see the Service Manual. Remove collars (2) from the hitch. Use E7018 Welding electrodes or its equivalent to make the four bosses larger in diameter, at location (a), to the dimensions shown. Make an 8.0 mm (.31") x 45° chamfer around the four bosses at (A). Tack weld 5T9084 Plates (3) on the hitch as shown. Make a 15.0 mm (.60") V-groove weld along each side of plates (3). Make a 10.0 mm (.38") fillet weld along each end of plates (3). 2 Use the hydraulic boring bar to machine bores (B) to 165.0 mm Ø 0.05 (6.496" Ø .002"); see Special Instruction Form SEHS8171 for the correct operation of the boring bar. Make a 1.5 mm 1.0 mm (.06" .04") x 45° chamfer around the bores at (C). Machine surfaces (D) to get the dimensions shown. 3 Lower the temperature of 5T9083 Collars (4) with dry ice (frozen CO2), and install the collars in the hitch as shown. Install the hitch in the machine; see the Service Manual.
