When finished paving, spray down the bottom of the screed plate.1. Stop the machine on level ground, away from where the mat is being laid. If it is necessary to park on a grade, block the wheels securely.
Shut off screed burners and allow the screed to cool before spraying the fuel or kerosene solvents. Be sure any puddles or collections of excess cleaning solvents are dried off machine and machine is moved from area where it was sprayed if burners are going to be used again. Fire could destroy the paver or cause personal injury.
Check with all Federal, State and Local authorities on the rules and regulations for use of solvents and cleaners in the area in which you are working.Proper cleaning of the screed, after completion of operation is very important to trouble-free paving the next time.Clean the screed in a manner so that the excess fuel from the cleaning can be contained and disposed of properly.One method used to contain the excess fuel from the cleaning is to position the paver on a layer of sand. After the cleaning is complete, reclaim and use the sand in the next batch of asphalt to be mixed. When using the fuel spray hose, keep the spray away from the tires, hydraulic hoses, electrical connections, electrical cables, etc. 2. Connect spraydown hose to fuel line.If equipped with a hose reel for the fuel spray hose the fuel line is routed differently and does not need to be connected and disconnected before and after each use. If equipped with a hose reel:3. Pull out the necessary amount of hose at the left rear of the machine. The main power switch must be turned ON for the burner pump to work.4. Turn wash down fuel pump on by moving the burners pump switch to the SPRAY DOWN position. A red light will be lit while the pump is on.5. Pull the trigger to start spraydown operation. Release the trigger to stop spraydown operation.
The screed could fall. To avoid possible personal injury, engage the screed travel lock whenever the screed is raised.
6. Clean and check the front of the screed and the end plates. Clean and check the bottom of the screed plate.7. The pump must be turned OFF when the cleanup is complete.8. Disconnect and store the spraydown hose when machine cleanup is complete.If equipped with a hose reel, return the spraydown hose to the side compartment.
