Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Install coupling hub (12) to the spline of hydrostatic pumps (5). Dimension (X) must be 1 .5 mm (0.04 0.02 inch). Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of screw (13). Tighten allen head screw (13) to a torque of 55 5 N m (40 4 lb ft).

Position flange (11) so that the protruding section of the hub is assembled toward the flywheel. Install bolts (10) .Note: Early models of the 906 will have six bolts (10). Later models of the 906 will have eight bolts (10) .

Install Tooling (A) to the rear of the engine. Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A). Raise the rear of the engine in order to allow the installation of rear support (8) .

Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (A) to the lifting eye of rear support (8). Install rear support (8) to the rear of the engine. The weight of adapter plate (8) is approximately 30 kg (66 lb).
Install clips (3) in the proper position.
Install bolts (9) and the washers.

Raise the rear of the engine with Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device.Note: Tooling (A) can be attached to the rear of the engine or rear support assembly (8) .

Install four rubber washers (6). Secure rubber washers (6) with two bolts (7) and the washers and nuts.

Attach a nylon strap and a suitable lifting device to hydraulic pump (5). Install pump (5) into the flange.Note: Make sure that the gears from the coupling hub on pump (5) mesh with the flange.
Install bolts (4) .

Move harness assemblies (2) into position on the top of the rear support. Secure harness assemblies (2) with cable straps (1) to clips (3) .

Remove Tooling (A) from the engine.End By:
Install the muffler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Muffler - Install".
Install the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood - Install".
