Typical pilot manifold
(1) Pilot pressure reducing valve
(2) Locknut
(3) Adjustment screw
Isolate the pilot relief valve by adjusting the pilot pressure reducing valve (1) to a setting that is higher than pilot relief pressure.Loosen locknut (2) on pilot pressure reducing valve (1). Turn adjusting screw (3) clockwise until the screw stops. Tighten the locknut.
Clear all personnel from the machine and from the area around the machine.
Start the engine.
Illustration 3 g02449876
Engine speed dial
Set the engine speed dial at "10".
Lower the left console.
Position the machine on level ground. Check the visibility and adjust the mirrors for the best vision close to the machine.
Lower the rail axles in order that all tires are fully off the ground, and shunt the road mode.
Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 46° to 60° C (115° to 140° F).
Fully extend the bucket cylinder and place the bucket on the ground.
Stop the engine.
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system.Note: Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "System Pressure - Release".
Raise the left console.

Hydraulic modulation aggressive mode (monitor display)
Select the hydraulic modulation mode as aggressive. Press the lower front switch on the left joystick to select the hydraulic modulation mode.
Ensure that the air conditioning is turned off for the following test.
Check the pressure at the pilot pressure tap. Refer to Table 1 for the correct pressure.
If the pilot relief pressure is not correct, proceed to the "Adjust Procedure".Adjust Procedure
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.

(4) Pilot relief valve
(5) Locknut
(6) Adjustment screw
Loosen locknut (5) on pilot relief valve (4).
Turn adjustment screw (6) on pilot relief valve (4) clockwise to increase the pilot relief pressure. Turn adjustment screw (6) on pilot relief valve (4) counter-clockwise to decrease the pilot relief pressure.Note: The pressure will increase by approximately 250 kPa (36 psi) when the adjustment screw is turned by 1 turn.Note: Make the final pressure adjustments on the pressure rise.
Check the pressure at the pilot pressure tap. Refer to Table 1 for the correct pressure
Repeat the "Adjust Procedure", until the pilot relief pressure has been met.
Hold adjustment screw (6) and tighten locknut (5) to the specified torque.
Readjust the pilot pressure reducing valve.
