The USB Sync function may not work correctly when attempting to update the Cat® Grade Control Software, or when retrieving Z-Snap files from the Cat Grade Control with a USB memory stick.Solution

Remove cable assembly (A) from the paver.

Remove 12-pin connector (B) from the harness.

(D) Screed display
Remove four bolts (C) from left screed display (D). Save the parts.

(E) Connector
Remove connector (E) in display port.Note: There is a single wire in this connector.

(F) Cover off
Remove the cover off (F) of this connector.Note: Leave the existing yellow wire in place.
Connect the wires from 398-3073 Cable As to this connector as follows:
Red = 8
Black = 9
White = 10
Green = 11
Reinstall the connector cover and connect the 398-3073 Cable As to the usb port in the display.
Start the paver and perform the usb function as needed.Note: Use left screed display instead of left tractor display.
To update software refer to "Special Instruction" M0067870 , Procedure to Update the Cat Grade and Slope on Certain F Series Pavers or retrieve Z-Snap.
Return 398-3073 Cable As and related components to original location in reverse order. The original pinout of the 12-pin connector is as follows:
Red=1
Green=2
White=3
Black=4
Install four bolts (C) to screed display (D) and tighten to 3.11 0.28 N m (27.5 2.5 lb in) that were saved in Step 3.Note: Over or under-tightening the display can cause damage.
