Illustration 2. Location of new components.On machines 01X1-4148 and 02X1-359, the 8D7890 Plain Half Differential Housing Assembly (8) and 8D3476 Flange Half Differential Housing Assembly (9) can be used. Later machines use a 8W6570 Flange Half Differential Housing Assembly, which will require modification to accept spider (3). Clearance must be machined in four places as indicated in Illustration 3. If the 8W6570 Differential Housing Assemblies must be replaced as a result of damage, a 8D3476 Differential Housing Assembly (9) can be used as a direct replacement and no machining will be necessary.

Four places.When installing the new parts, the existing 3D6509 Dowel (7) in the 8D7890 Plain Half Differential Housing Assembly (8), which retains existing 6D0740 Washer (10), must be removed. New dowel (7) must be installed in the housing assembly in the dowel hole closest to the bore for spider (1). In this location, the dowel will engage the notch in retainer (3).
The 631E Tractor-Scraper Service Manual should be used for correct assembly of the new components.
