ACTION REQUIRED
The 235-4948 Crankcase Breather needs to be mounted in a higher location so that moisture does not collect inside the breather canister, or hoses, and freeze.
Only machines working in below zero degree centigrade temperatures for prolonged periods of time need to be reworked.
Rework Procedure:
1. Remove and discard hoses and lifting eye, identified as (A), (B), and (C). Remove and discard all fasteners. Refer to Image1.
2. Remove and retain the crankcase breather and adapter. Refer to Image1. Discard all fasteners.
3. Relocate the crankcase breather to the new location. Refer to Image2, 3, and 4. Relocate the crankcase breather using parts identified in Image5.
4. Install plate (1) to the engine using four bolts (5) and four hard washers (6).
Install the breather canister and adapter to plate (1) using two hex head bolts (7), two hex head nuts (9), and four hard washers (8). Tighten to a specified torque of 12 +/- 3 N.m.
5. Install moulded hose (3) between the the engine oil dipstick tube and the breather canister adapter using two hose clamps (12). Tighten the hose clamp at the hose to the breather canister adapter to a specified torque of 1.4 +/- 0.3 N.m.
6. Install moulded hose (2) between the engine top cover and the breather canister adapter using one hose clamp (12) and hose clamp (11). Tighten hose clamp (11) to a specified torque of 2.25 +/- 0.25 N.m.
7. Install molded hose (2) between the breather canister and the air intake hose, using two hose clamps (10).
