Typical Components of the Scraper Power Train (1) Transmission transfer gears (2) Drive shaft (3) Engine (4) Retarder (5) Engine transfer gears (6) Torque converter (7) Transmission (8) Bevel pinion (9) Differential and bevel gear (10) Final drive (11) WheelThe scraper transmission has eight speeds FORWARD and one speed REVERSE. The scraper transmission is controlled by an electrical system and a hydraulic system. The selection of any scraper transmission speed position is automatic. There are no manual shifts for the scraper transmission. All shifts are controlled by the tractor transmission control system and the scraper transmission control system. The power will flow from engine (3) to the scraper wheels (11) in the following way. First, the power will flow from engine (3) to retarder (4). Next, the power will flow from retarder (4) to engine transfer gears (5). The power will then flow from engine transfer gears (5) to drive shaft (2). Next, the power will flow from drive shaft (2) to transmission transfer gears (1). When the transmission is in REVERSE through SECOND speed, the power will flow from transmission transfer gears (1) through torque converter (6) to transmission (7). When the transmission is in THIRD through EIGHTH speed, the power will flow from transmission transfer gears (1) to transmission (7). Next, the power will flow from transmission (7) to bevel pinion (8). The power will then flow from bevel pinion (8) to bevel gear (9). Next, the power will flow from bevel gear (9) through the axles to final drive (10). Lastly, the power will flow from final drive (10) to wheels (11).
