1. Before assembly put four discs (3) and five plates (5) in SAE 50 oil.2. When connecting adapter assembly (2) to final drive, be sure that the two 5/8 in. threaded holes are at the bottom (down).3. Assemble brake housing (1) and its parts to adapter assembly (2).4. Tighten four bolts (7) evenly, by hand. Spring compression travel distance ... .210 in.(5.33 mm)5. Use a wrench and tighten bolts (7) evenly by turning one turn at a time.6. This procedure is used to make sure that piston (4) goes into housing (1) straight. If piston (4) does not go into housing (1) correctly, the brake will be held in a brake ON position.7. When bolts (7) are tightened, check to be sure that piston (4) is straight in housing (1).8. If the piston is not straight, washer (6) will be bent in the middle. Check the washer with a straight edge.9. If washer (6) is bent, remove housing (1) and piston (4).10. Inspect all parts for damage.11. Install new parts if damage is seen, install a new washer (6).
