Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Disconnect harness assembly (5) for the coolant temperature sensor.
Disconnect hose (2) from housing manifold (3).
Disconnect hose assembly (1) from water temperature regulator housing (4).
Remove bolts (7). Remove pipe (6), water temperature regulator housing (4), and housing manifold (3).

Remove water temperature regulator housing (4) from housing manifold (3). Remove O-ring seals (9) and (8) from housing manifold (3).
Remove water temperature regulator (10).
Remove lip seal (12).
Remove pipe (6) from water temperature regulator housing (4). Remove O-ring seals (11).Installation Procedure

Use Tooling (A) to install lip seal (12) in water temperature regulator housing (4).
Install O-ring seals (11) on pipe (6). Apply Tooling (B) to the O-ring seals. Install the pipe in the water temperature regulator housing.
Install O-ring seals (8) and (9) on housing manifold (3).
Install water temperature regulator (10) in housing manifold (3).

Install pipe (6) in water temperature regulator housing (4). Position water temperature regulator housing (4) and housing manifold (3) and install bolts (7).
Connect hose assembly (1) and hose (2).
Connect harness assembly (5) for the coolant temperature sensor.
Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".
