Refer to the individual topics for the specific parts (and quantities) required for each particular installation. Items and quantities will vary according to the installation options chosen. Customer (OEM) wiring and optional features are recommended. NO additional connections are allowed to any wires detailed and described in this publication without Caterpillar Inc. approval. Figure 35 - Computerized Monitoring System (CMS) PanelThe Computerized Monitoring System (CMS) is an electronic monitoring system designed to display various engine and transmission parameters.There are twelve system diagnostic lamps available. The lamps are located on the right side in four rows of three.Seven different engine/transmission parameters may be displayed on electronic gauges. The six left side gauges are arranges in two rows of three. The larger center gauge is the tachometer.Beneath the tachometer is a three digit display and beneath that is a four digit display. The three digit display indicates which of the six left side gauges is being read.The four digit display is used to display the six left side gauge readings. The illuminated arrows above the tachometer are used as synchronization indicators.CMS Panel Dimensions

Use 5A circuit protection on the +Battery supply to the display. The preferred method is to connect both PORT and STBD CMS displays through the same ignition switch. 1. Connect +Battery Bus Bar to the positive terminal of the Start (Ignition) Switch. Connect the RUN terminal of the Start (Ignition) Switch to the CMS 40-Pin connector pin-1.2. Connect -Battery Bus Bar to the CMS 40-Pin connector pin-6.Connecting The CMS Harness Code
The CMS Harness Codes can only be used with the 139-0102 CMS Panel.3. Connect -Battery to Harness Code 1 of the CMS 40-Pin connector pin-26.4. Connect -Battery to Harness Code 2 of the CMS 40-Pin connector pin-28.5. Connect -Battery to the Harness Code 3 input of the 40-Pin Connector. Refer to the table below. 6. Connect -Battery of Harness Code 4 to the CMS 40-Pin connector pin-25. Connecting pin-25 to the -Battery Bus Bar disables the transmission temperature and pressure displays. This option can be used in installations not requiring transmission monitoring.Connecting CAT Data Link
Refer to the table below for the proper pin numbers for your engine arrangement.1. Connect the CAT Data Link+ terminal of engine room Data Bus Bar to the CAT Data Link+ terminal of the bridge Data Bus Bar.2. Connect the CAT Data Link- terminal of engine room Data Bus Bar to the CAT Data Link- terminal of the bridge Data Bus Bar.3. Connect the bridge CAT Data Link+ terminal to pin-23 of the PORT and STBD CMS Connectors (P6).4. Connect the bridge CAT Data Link- terminal to pin-24 of the PORT and STBD CMS Customer Connectors (P6). Use 143-5018 Data Link Cable for CAT Data Link connections.
