Procedure for the Update
Disassembly
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

Remove exhaust pipe support (1) and exhaust pipe support (2) from the engine in order to allow access to the exhaust manifold.

Remove bolts (3) and locknuts (4) from the flanges on the manifold segments for cylinders 7 and 8.
Remove the manifold segments from cylinder 7 and cylinder 8 by removing bolts (5) that connect the exhaust manifold to each cylinder head. Discard the bolts, but keep the washers and spacers.

Remove sleeves (7), elbow support sleeve (8), and elbow support sleeves (6) from the manifold segments. Clean the manifold segments and inspect the manifold segments. If necessary, replace the manifold segments.Assembly

Install new elbow support sleeves (1), (7), and (8). Install sleeves and seals (5) on the manifold segments. Refer to Illustration 4 for proper orientation and order of the parts for the right bank (cylinder 7). Refer to Illustration 5 for proper orientation and order of parts for the left bank (cylinder 8).
Install exhaust manifold gasket (6). Lubricate the threads of bolts (4) with anti-seize compound. Align the exhaust manifold to the other segments. The manifold bolts should only be snug at this point. Use new bolts (4) .
Lubricate the threads of bolts (2) with anti-seize compound. Tighten the sleeves on both ends of the manifold segment to a torque of 55 5 N m (41 4 lb ft).
Complete tightening bolts (4) to the cylinder head to a torque of 50 5 N m (37 4 lb ft).
Use new hardware in order to reinstall the piping for the engine exhaust.
