Place cam (20) on valve housing (19). Install the alignment dowels in the proper holes. Refer to Illustration 10. Install the dowels with a hammer and a drift.

Place brake shaft (18) into valve housing (19). Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to lower valve housing (19) and cam (20) onto the end housing. The weight of valve housing (19) and cam (20) is approximately 98 kg (215 lb).

Install bolts (17). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 350 N m (258 lb ft).
Install O-ring seal (16) on the valve housing.

Install spool (15) in valve housing (19).

Install spring (13), spring retainer (12), and snap ring (11).
Install O-ring seal (14).

Install cover (10) and bolts (9). Tighten bolts (9) to a torque of 10 1 N m (89 9 lb in).

Measure the thickness of the brake pack. The pack must be a minimum of 73 mm (2.9 inch). Add shims to the pack if the thickness of the brake pack is less than 74.500 mm (2.9331 inch) but more than 73 mm (2.9 inch).

Place a continuous bead of Tooling (F) around the mounting face of brake housing (7).
Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to brake housing (7). Lower brake housing (7) onto valve housing (19). The weight of brake housing (7) is approximately 30 kg (65 lb).

Install bolts (6). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 580 60 N m (428 44 lb ft).
Install brake pack (8). The first disc should be smooth. Alternate the discs until all discs have been installed.

Place the seal on brake piston (5). Install brake piston (5) in brake housing (7).

Install spring washers (3) and spacers (4).
Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.

Use Tooling (D) in order to install cover (2). Install bolts (1). Remove Tooling (D).

Install remaining bolts (1) to cover (2). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 120 10 N m (89 7 lb ft). End By:
