26. Remove No. 2 clutch piston. Use 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws if necessary. 27. Remove the retaining ring from the intermediate sun gear shaft. 28. Secure the No. 3 clutch piston to No. 2-3 housing with tool (A), install two 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolts, and remove housing and clutch-weight 225 lb. (102 kg). Turn housing over and remove No. 3 clutch piston. 29. Install 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws and remove oil manifold. Remove seals from manifold. Remove bearing and race from oil manifold only if bearing replacement is necessary. Heat bearing in oil to 275°F (135°C) to reinstall. 30. Remove No. 3 clutch plates, discs, and ring gear. 31. Install two 1/2"-16 NC forged eyebolts and remove No. 4 clutch housing and piston using tool (B) to prevent piston from dropping out-weight 100 lb. (45 kg). Remove No. 4 piston.32. Remove No. 4 clutch plates, discs, and ring gear. 33. Remove cover plate (17) from No. 5 clutch housing. 34. Install 1/2"-16 NC forged eyebolt in carrier shaft and remove carrier assembly-weight 300 lb. (135 kg). 35. Remove No. 5 ring gear, clutch plates, and clutch discs. Remove No. 5 piston. Install two 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolts and remove No. 5 clutch housing. 36. Remove inner bearing. Remove outer bearing only if necessary. If bearing replacement is necessary, cut bearing off. Heat in oil to 275°F (135°C) to install.37. Disassemble carrier as follows: a) Remove intermediate sun gear. b) Remove retaining bolts and locks from bearing cage, install two 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws in bearing cage (18), and separate cage from carrier. c) Remove No. 2 carrier planet shaft (19), gears (20), bearings (21), and washers from carrier using tool (C). d) Remove output shaft assembly from carrier. e) Remove carrier bearing race using soft punch.f) Remove retaining ring from output shaft. g) Install three 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws through spacer and remove bearing race and spacer. h) Remove No. 4 and 5 sun gears from shaft.Assemble Transmission
1. Assemble carrier as follows: a) Install No. 4 and 5 sun gears on output shaft. b) Install spacer on output shaft.c) Heat bearing race to 275°F (135°C) in oil and install on output shaft.d) Install retaining ring on output shaft.e) Install race in carrier.f) Install output shaft in carrier. g) Install No. 5 clutch outer planet gear and No. 4 clutch planet gears using one fiber washer on each side of each gear. Align balls with holes in carrier so planet shaft can be driven into carrier. h) Install bearing race in cage and install cage on carrier.i) Install intermediate sun gear. 2. Install outer bearing in transmission cover using tool (A). 3. Install inner bearing using tool (B). 4. Install small cover and sleeve on bottom of cover plate.5. Install No. 5 clutch housing. 6. Install No. 5 clutch piston and ring gear.7. Install pins, discs (four), clutch plates (three), and springs. 8. Install carrier assembly. 9. Install No. 4 ring gear, plate and springs. 10. Install No. 4
