Personal injury or death can result from escaping fluid under pressure.Escaping fluid under pressure, even a very small pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue and cause serious injury and possible death. If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

(1) Manifold (2) Bolts (3) Brake release sequence valveNote: Put identification marks on the hose assemblies for installation purposes.
Disconnect the hose assemblies from manifold (1) .
Remove bolts (2) and the washers. Remove manifold (1) .
Connect manifold (1) to a hydraulic test bench.
Adjust the opening pressure setting of brake release sequence valve (3). The correct opening pressure setting for brake release sequence valve (3) is 1930 70 kPa (280 10 psi).

Loosen locknut (5). Turn adjusting screw (4) fully clockwise.
Connect a low pressure oil supply to fitting (7) at port 2.
Connect a regulated supply of oil to fitting (8) at port 1. The supply should be regulated to 1930 70 kPa (280 10 psi).
Turn adjusting screw (4) counterclockwise until oil flows from fitting (6) at port 3.
Tighten locknut (5) .
Install manifold (1) to the machine. Install bolts (2) and the washers.
Connect the hose assemblies to manifold (1) .
Purge the air from the towing brake release system.Reference: Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Brake Release System Air - Purge" for the machine that is being serviced.
