The problem that is identified in the Technical Information Bulletin that follows does not have a known permanent solution. Use the solution that is identified below.Problem
New/Replacement Displays
Machines purchased with the Cat® Grade Control option will come with a CB460 Cat Grade Control Display with valid Cat Grade Control Option keys installed from the factory. Option keys for a new replacement display may be requested by completing the procedure in the Interim Solution (ICA) noted below.In the event of failure or theft, a replacement display may need to be obtained and configured with software and appropriate option keys by completing the procedure in the Interim Solution (ICA) noted below.Update Firmware for Displays
The Cat Grade Control Display may be updated with firmware released within 24 months of the date that the display was activated for use at no charge. If the firmware is released after the 24 months have passed, a new option key to extend the support of updates for another 12 months is required and may be obtained through SITECH or Trimble Support.Solution
Interim Solution (ICA)
Recommended action is to validate the proper functionality of the Cat Grade Control Display prior to commissioning a machine with Cat Grade Control or upon installation of a service replacement display.The Cat Grade Control System requires a display with the following requirements:Cat Grade Control Branded, Valid Software Support Option key(s), Automatics allowed, and the Machine Type is configured to match the actual machine type that it is installed on.Request Option keys for Service Replacement Display
Dealer must contact the DSN to obtain a new option key for the replacement display by the following procedure:

Call the DSN and request Level 3 (CTCT) support to receive a new option key.
Provide the above information.
CTCT Level 3 support will provide a new option key file via e-mail.Note: The failed display serial number will be recorded as inactive so it will not be able to receive new option keys or Software Support updates.Example Process:

Receive Option Keys 1232J0047SW.txt fileProgram new option keys on the Cat Grade Control Display
Load the option key file on the root directory of a USB stick.
Power up the display.
Navigate to "Menu". Then, navigate to "Installation". Then navigate to "Software Support" Option.
Insert the USB Stick.Option keys will load.Display will prompt that the option keys have been loaded.
Remove USB stick.
Power cycle display.
Name Display
Transfer and load display (.dsp), design, and config files.
Configure the display.Permanent Solution
A process to improve and expedite this procedure for obtaining option keys for Cat Grade Control displays is being reviewed and developed. An implementation date has not been determined yet.
