( 1 ) Refer to the Caterpillar Hydraulic Information System (HIS) for the correct information that is needed in order to fabricate the hose assembly.

Place suction on the hydraulic circuit at the hydraulic tank.
Disconnect the former 8X-3294 Hose As at the supply tube for the cylinder. Allow the cylinder to drain.
Remove the former 8X-3294 Hose As and install the new 231-8043 Hose As (1) .
Remove the former 8X-9294 Plate and install the new 231-4544 Plate As (2) with the existing hardware.
Install clip (3), clip (4), and grommet (5), as shown.
Use bolt (6), washers (7), and nut (8) in order to secure the clips and the grommet to plate (2) .
