Safety
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Main control valve
(1) Pressure tap
Connect the hose for air removal to pressure tap (1) of the main control valve and set the oil receiver. Refer to Illustration 1.
Start the engine and run at low idle. Note: During this procedure, do not operate the machine.
Air removal is finished when no residual air remains in the system. Travel Pilot Lines Air - Purge
Note: Perform the following Steps if there is any delay noticed with travel response.
Start the machine and operate all functions.
Shut down the machine and release the hydraulic system pressure.

Open hood (11).
Illustration 3 g03747792
Loosen hose assemblies (12) and (13) in order to purge the air that can be trapped in the travel circuit. Do not disconnect hose assemblies (12) and (13) at this time. Note: Trapped air and small amounts of hydraulic oil will be released.
Tighten hose assemblies (12) and (13).
Repeat Steps 4 and 5 as needed to purge the travel circuit completely.
