Cooler Core That Is Cleaned For Welding
Remove all paint from the surfaces of the cooler core that will be used for the new brackets. Refer to Illustration 2.
Make sure that the surface of the cooler core is clean. Remove any dust from the grinder or foreign residue from the weld area.
Repeat Step 1 through Step 3 for the remaining three brackets.Installation Of The New Mounting Brackets

Position Of The New Plate (1) 224-0748 Plate (A) 3.2 mm (0.13 inch) spacer
Position plate (1) on the cooler core. Use spacer (A) in order to correctly position the plate. Make sure that the plate is positioned flat against the spacer, the tank, and the side plate assembly. Refer to Illustration 3 for the correct position of the plate.

Tack Welds For The New Plate (1) 224-0748 Plate (A) 3.2 mm (0.13 inch) spacer (B) Tack weld
Tack weld plate (1) to the cooler core at the corners that are accessible. The accessible corners are opposite the hose connections. Make sure that the tack welds (B) are located correctly. Refer to Illustration 4 for the correct locations of the tack welds. Tack welds that are incorrectly positioned will interfere with Step 3.

Position strip (2) against plate (1). Make sure that the strip is positioned flat against the spacer, the tank, and the side plate assembly. Refer to Illustration 5 for the correct locations of the tack welds. Tack weld (B) the strip to the cooler core assembly and to the plate.
Repeat Step 1 through Step 3 for the three remaining corners of the cooler core assembly.
Make sure that the mounting holes and surfaces are positioned correctly. Failure to verify the correct positions may create problems during reassembly and the potential failure of the cooler core assembly.
