Information:

At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressur. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
1. Release the pressure in the cooling system. Drain the coolant from the radiator into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the cooling system is 44 liters (11.4 U.S. gal). 2. Remove drain plug (3) from the front bonnet of the transmission oil cooler.3. Disconnect one tube assembly (4) from the front bonnet.4. Loosen clamp (1), and disconnect hose (2) from the front bonnet. 5. Remove one bolt (5), and disconnect two hose clips (6).6. Remove drain plug (7) from the rear bonnet of the transmission oil cooler.7. Remove plug (8), and drain the oil from the transmission oil cooler. Reinstall the drain plug. 8. Remove eight bolts (10) and the washers that hold two tube assemblies (9) to the bottom of the transmission oil cooler. 9. Support the transmission oil cooler. Remove bolt (11) that holds the support for the rear bonnet to the cylinder head assembly. 10. Remove five bolts (13) that hold front bonnet (14) to the cylinder block and engine oil cooler (12).11. Using two persons, remove transmission oil cooler (15). The weight of the transmission oil cooler is 25 kg (55 lb).12. Remove the front and rear bonnets from the transmission oil cooler core.13. Using a 4.0 mm (.156 in) diameter rod, clean the tube bundles in the transmission oil cooler. The following steps are for the installation of the transmission oil cooler.14. Check the condition of the gaskets used between the transmission oil cooler and the front and rear bonnets. Also, check the condition of the O-ring seals used in the ends of tube assemblies (9). If any of the parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.15. Install new gaskets and the front and rear bonnets on the transmission oil cooler core.16. Put transmission oil cooler (15) in position on the side of the engine. Install five bolts (13) that hold the cooler to the cylinder block and the engine oil cooler.17. Install bolt (11) that holds the support for the rear bonnet of the transmission oil cooler to the cylinder head assembly.18. Connect two tube assemblies (9) to the bottom of the transmission oil cooler.19. Reinstall two hose clips (6).20. Connect hose (2) to the front bonnet of the transmission oil cooler.21. Connect tube assembly (4) to the front bonnet of the transmission oil cooler.22. Reinstall drain plug (7) in the rear bonnet of the transmission oil cooler. Reinstall drain plug (3) in the front bonnet of the transmission oil cooler.23. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedure.
