LATER 988B SHOWN1. Remove four screws (1) from panel (2) and remove the panel. 2. Disconnect wiring harness (4) behind panel at connectors (3) and remove the panel from the machine. 3. Remove fuse holder (8) as follows: a) Disconnect two wires (7) from the terminals. Put identification on the wires for correct installation.b) Loosen nut (6) and remove it from the fuse holder. The notch (slot) in nut (6) must be in alignment with the side terminal (5) of the fuse holder.c) Remove fuse holder (8) through the front of the instrument panel.
LATER 988B SHOWN4. Remove ring (9) from the ignition switch on the right hand instrument panel.
LATER 988B AND 992C SHOWN5. Disconnect wires (10) from switch (11). Put identification on the wires for correct installation.6. Remove switch (11) from the back of instrument panel.
EARLIER 988B AND 922C ONLY 7. Remove the stop switch, on the earlier 988B and 992C, as follows: a) Turn rubber cap (12) in a counterclockwise direction to loosen it.b) Remove cap (12) and nut (13).c) Disconnect two wires (15) from stop switch (14) and put identification on them for correct installation. Remove the switch from the back of the instrument panel.
LATER 988B AND 992C ONLY8. Remove the start aid switch, on the later 988B and 992C, as follows: a) Turn rubber cap (16) in a counterclockwise direction to loosen it. Remove the cap and nut (17).b) Disconnect two wires (18) from the start aid switch (19). Put identification on them. Remove the switch from the back of the instrument panel.

LATER 988B AND 992C ONLY9. Later 988B and 992C only, remove nut (20) and washers (21) from the panel test switch.
LATER 988B AND 992C ONLY10. Put identifications on wires (22) for correct installation. Remove wires (22) from panel test switch (23). 11. Remove gauges as follows: a) Remove lamp socket (24) from the gauge.b) Put identification on two wires (28) for correct installation, and disconnect wires (28) from the gauge.c) Remove two nuts (25) that hold retainer (26) and ground wires (27) to the gauge. Remove the gauge from the front of panel.
EARLIER 988B AND 992C ONLY12. Remove toggle switches as follows: a) On earlier 988B and 992C, do not pull on boot (29) to remove it. Use a wrench on nut (30) to remove the one piece unit of the boot and nut.b) On later 988B and 992C, remove nut (31), lockwasher and washer (32).
LATER 988B AND 992C ONLY c) Put identification on wires (33) for correct installation.d) Disconnect wires (33) from switch (34) and remove the switch from the back of the panel.
LATER 988B AND 992C SHOWN 13. Remove indicator lights as follows: a) Put identification on wires (35) for correct installation and disconnect the wires from the socket.b) Remove nut (36) and lockwasher (37).c) Remove indicator light (38) from the front of panel.
