Removal Procedure
Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment.To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable from the negative (−) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate the engine electrical system.Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.
Disconnect the battery.
Make temporary identification marks on the harness assemblies that are connected to the electric starting motor.

Disconnect the harness assemblies (not shown) from electric starting motor (2).
Remove fasteners (1) that secure electric starting motor (2). Note: Support the weight of the electric starting motor as the fasteners are removed.
Remove electric starting motor (2) from the engine. Installation Procedure

Typical example
Install electric starting motor (2) in position on the engine.
Install fasteners (1) and tighten to a torque of 50 N m (37 lb ft).
Connect the harness assemblies (not shown) to electric starting motor (2).
Connect the battery.
