Information:
Note: The rear suspension cylinders differ from the left side to the right side. The cylinder assemblies are not interchangeable. Follow the assembly procedure to assemble both suspension cylinders.
In order to prevent possible personal injury, use a suitable fixture to support the weight of the suspension cylinder. Do not attempt to stand the suspension cylinder on end without the use of a suitable support. Failure to use a suitable support fixture could result in injury or death to personnel in this area.
Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to horizontally position cylinder assembly (8) on a level surface. The weight of cylinder assembly (8) is approximately 390 kg (860 lb).

Section B-B
Failure to follow the recommended procedure or the specified tooling that is required for the procedure could result in damage to components. To avoid component damage, follow the recommended procedure using the recommended tools.
Apply Tooling (D) onto the bearing bore of rod assembly (6). Lower the temperature of bearing assembly (19). Use a suitable press to install bearing assembly (19) into rod assembly (6). Apply Tooling (E) onto bearing assembly (19).Note: The orientation of bearing (19) in rod assembly (6) is very important. Ensure that the lube holes that are located in bearing (19) are aligned with the grease passages that are located in rod assembly (6). If necessary, scribe a line on the bearing assembly to indicate the centerline of the bearing race and the lube holes.
Install retaining rings (18) onto rod assembly (6).

Apply Tooling (F) onto lip seal (17). Install lip seal (17), backup ring (16), seal (15), wear sleeve (14), backup ring (13), and O-ring seal (12) onto head assembly (8).Note: Lubricate backup ring (16), seal (15), backup ring (13) and O-ring seal (12) with the lubricant that is being sealed.
Illustration 5 g02063215
Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to install head assembly (8) onto rod assembly (6). The weight of head assembly (8) is approximately 44 kg (97 lb).
Install ball (11), plate (10), and wear sleeve (9) onto rod assembly (6).
Illustration 6 g02063173
Lubricate the bore of cylinder assembly (7) with clean oil. Use a suitable lifting device to install rod assembly (6) and head assembly (8) onto cylinder assembly (7). The weight of rod assembly (6) and head assembly (8) is approximately 237 kg (522 lb). The weight of cylinder assembly (7) is approximately 233 kg (514 lb).
