Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Cylinders equipped with load control valves can remain pressurized, even with hoses removed.Failure to relieve pressure before removing a load control valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a load control valve or disassembling a cylinder.
Move the machine to a hard level surface.
Avoid sudden steering inputs when you are parking the machine.
Apply the service brakes in order to stop the machine.
Move the transmission control lever to the PARK position.
If the body is fully lowered, place the hoist control lever in the FLOAT position for at least 10 seconds.
If the body is in the raised position, ensure that all of the body pins have been installed correctly. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Body Retaining Pins - Installation". Place the hoist control lever in the FLOAT position for at least 10 seconds.
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position in order to stop the engine.
Chock the front wheels and the rear wheels. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
Turn the engine start switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
Depress the service brake pedal fully and position the transmission control lever in the NEUTRAL position.
While the service brake pedal is depressed, actuate the secondary brake pedal by full travel for at least 15 cycles.
Position the transmission control lever in the PARK position. Release the service brake pedal.
Fully actuate the service brake pedal for at least 40 cycles until you cannot feel resistance at the pedal.
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
Slowly loosen the filler cap for the hoist/brake hydraulic tank in order to release the pressure.
Push the button on the breaker relief valve on the steering hydraulic oil tank. Slowly loosen the filler cap for the steering hydraulic oil tank in order to release the pressure.
