However, the process of determining the diagnostic codes is easier and faster by using the Cat ET. The Cat ET can also display information on the history of a diagnostic code and the parameter status of diagnostic codes. These features allow the Cat ET to be a useful tool for Troubleshooting.The Cat ET is used to communicate to the electronic control module over the data link by connecting to the machine diagnostic connector. Use the digital multi-meter for measuring resistance or for measuring voltage. For instructions about the use of the 6V-7070 Digital Multimeter, refer to Special Instruction, SEHS7734, "Use Of The 6V-7070 And 6V-7800 Multimeter". The 7X-1710 Multimeter Probes are used to measure the voltage at the connectors without disconnecting the connectors. The probe ends are pushed into the back of the connector along the wire. The 151-6320 Removal Tool is used to remove a wire and socket or pin from the connector body. The 8T-8726 Adapter Cable has a breakout with three pins. The adapter cable is used for measurements in the sensor circuits.Note: Except for harness tests, using continuity testers such as the 8T-0500 Continuity Tester or voltage testers such as the 5P-7277 Voltage Tester is not recommended for today's Caterpillar electrical circuits.Display
The display will allow the operator or the technician to interact with the machine ECM and the Cat Grade Control System and it will also display fault codes and fault messages. The display can also be used to perform sensor calibration, adjust the valve speed, set the target slope, and measure the slope. The display could be a very important tool to be used while Troubleshooting the Cat Grade Control System (Cross Slope). When a fault is detected, a message appears on the LCD of the display. There are two kinds of faults that appear on the display:
Caution - A function has been initiated, but the function cannot be carried out.
Warning - A warning indicates a fatal error when something must be repaired or replaced.Cross slope sensors menu shows sensor actual data that may be used
