Removal Procedure
Start By:
Install the engine lifting brackets.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Right Side Support
Note: Mark the positions of the supports and the shims for proper installation. The right side supports are connected to the plates on the generator base by dowels. The dowels must be removed before the mounting supports can be removed.
Remove the plastic caps from the engine supports to the access hole for the dowels. Use a 1/2 inch bolt with a washer in order to remove dowels (4).
Fasten a suitable lifting device to the lifting brackets. The weight of the G3612 Engine is approximately 25084 kg (55300 lb). The weight of the G3616 Engine is approximately 29892 kg (65900 lb).
Remove bolts (2) that hold engine supports (3) to the generator base. Check the seals on the bolts for damage. If necessary, replace the seals. The seals should be installed on clean bolts.
Lift the engine enough in order to place a nylon strap around the support. The weight of each support is approximately 64 kg (141 lb).
Remove bolts (1) that hold the support to the cylinder block.
Tap the support with a rubber mallet in order to disengage the dowels from the cylinder block.
Remove the support from the side of the cylinder block.
If necessary, remove the dowels from the support. Installation Procedure

Right Side Support
If dowels (4) were removed from support (3), reinstall the dowels. The dowels must extend 20 1 mm (0.79 0.04 inch) above the surface of the support. Check the seals for damage. If necessary, replace the seals.
Put the support in position on the side of the cylinder block. Install bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 1125 100 N m (830 75 lb ft).
Install the shims in the original location.
Install the dowels through the support and into the base on the right side of the engine.
Lower the engine onto the base assembly. Install bolts (2).
Check the alignment between the engine and the driven equipment.
Replace the plastic cap on the access hole for the dowels on the support. End By:
