Removal Procedure
Start By:
Install the body retaining pin. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Retaining Ring and Pin (Body) - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Note: Install caps and plugs on all openings in order to prevent dirt or debris from entering the system. Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will prevent dirt from entering the internal components.
Drain the hydraulic tank (hoist and brake). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hoist and Brake Tank Oil - Change". The capacity of the hydraulic tank (hoist and brake) is 133 L (35 US gal).

Disconnect hose assemblies (1) and tube assemblies (2).

Remove cover assembly (3) and breather assembly (4).

Remove tube assembly (5).

Attach a suitable lifting device to hydraulic tank (6). The weight of hydraulic tank (6) is approximately 150 kg (330 lb).
Remove bolts (8). Remove bolts (7) from both sides of hydraulic tank (6).
Remove hydraulic tank (6) from the machine.
