Hoist Lever Position sensor circuit
This diagnostic code indicates the "Chassis" ECM detects the hoist lever position sensor voltage is below normal.The following can cause this code:
Sensor failure
Sensor signal circuit shorted to ground
ECM failureNote: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created codes and clear these created codes after the original diagnostic code has been corrected. Ensure diagnostic code CID 0773 FMI 04 is active before performing this procedure.Note: Use a calibrated digital multimeter for this procedure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SENSOR
Perform a visual inspection of the sensor, the sensor wiring, and the sensor hardware.Expected Result:There is no apparent damage to the sensor, wiring, or hardware.Results:
OK - There is no apparent damage to the sensor, wiring, or hardware. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - There is apparent damage to the sensor, wiring, or hardware.Repair: Replace the damaged part.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK FOR POWER AT THE SENSORDo not disconnect the harness connector from the sensor.
At the back of the harness connector for the sensor, insert a multimeter probe along contact 1 (wire 173-RD(Red)).
Turn on the key switch and the disconnect switch.
Measure the voltage from contact 1 (wire 173-RD(Red)) to contact 2 (wire J878-YL(Yellow)).Expected Result:The voltage is between 9 VDC and 32 VDC.Results:
OK - The voltage is between 9 VDC and 32 VDC. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The voltage is not between 9 VDC and 32 VDC. The circuit is open.Repair: Repair or replace the harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE SENSOR SIGNALThe multimeter probe remains along contact 2 (wire J878-YL(Yellow)).
Turn off the key switch and the disconnect switch.
At the back of the harness connector for the sensor, insert the other multimeter probe along contact 3 (wire M996-PK(Pink)).
Turn on the disconnect switch and the key switch.
Monitor the sensor signal with a multimeter.
Without disconnecting the sensor or sensor hardware from the machine, take the sensor through the full operating range.Expected Result:
