Loosen fittings (11) and (12). Drain the oil into a suitable container.
Move the front tires to the left and right by hand. Move the tires until all the oil has been drained from the cylinders and lines.
Tighten fittings (11) and (12) to 165 15 N m (120 11 lb ft).
Replace drain plugs (9) and (10) .
Replace the filters for the hydraulic system oil.Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for your machine regarding specific instructions.

Maintain the hydraulic oil level above the MIN mark on sight gauge. Add hydraulic oil through the filler tube if the hydraulic oil level drops below the MIN mark.Note: The oil must be free from bubbles. If there are bubbles in the oil, air is entering the hydraulic system. Inspect the suction hoses and inspect the hose clamps for leaks.

If your 16M machine is equipped with an Auto Lube System, then it is necessary to purge that system. Disconnect the hose at connection (14) and activate the system until all air is expelled. Tighten the connection.
Disconnect hose at connection (13) and activate the system until all air is expelled Tighten the connection.
At the end of this procedure change the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) setting to 0W20, when Arctic Oil is added.Note: For the 24M Motor Graders perform the following oil drain procedure for each service and parking brake lines group. If multiple oil changes are required, then it is only necessary to perform this procedure once. Disconnect hose (17) and tubes (19) and (21) from slack adjuster (20).
Disconnect hose (16) from the junction block on top of the tandem. Drain the hydraulic oil into an approved container.
Remove slack adjuster (20). Drain the hydraulic oil and flush slack adjuster (20) .
Remove tubes (15), (18), (19), and (21) from the tandem. Flush and drain the hydraulic oil from the tubes.
Install tubes (15), (18), (19), and (21) to the tandem.
Install slack adjuster (20). Reconnect hose (15) and tubes (19) and (21) to slack adjuster (20). Reconnect hose (16) to the junction block on top of the tandem.
