Remove O-ring (67). 34. Remove spacer sleeve and yoke (68) from the housing. 35. Use pliers (C) to remove retaining ring and back up washer (69). Remove the shaft. 36. Remove O-ring (70) and shaft seal (71). If the pistons are to be reused, each piston must be installed in its original ball socket. Place identifying marks on the pistons and ball sockets to aid in assembly.37. Turn piston stems (72) so that the ball end grooves are parallel with the shaft cut outs and lift the piston stems out. 38. Remove piston rings (73) from each piston (72). 39. Use pliers (B) to remove retaining ring (74) and coupling (75) from shaft (76). Do not disassemble the shaft and bearing assembly unless the replacement of components is necessary.40. If the bearings or shaft need to be replaced, remove the lock nut using a spanner wrench. Remove the lock washer. Position the shaft on a piece of pipe or a suitable support that fits over the shaft and supports the large bearing inner race. The shaft can then be pressed out of the bearings.Assemble Ground Drive Motor
1. If the shaft was pressed from the bearings, assemble the bearings on the shaft with a press. Install the lock washer. Install the nut with a spanner wrench. Bearing setting is correct when the spacer ring between the bearings can be moved sideways with firm hand pressure. Bend the lock tab up on the nut. Do not use the same tab twice. 2. Use pliers (B) to install retaining ring (74) and coupling (75) on shaft (76). 3. Install O-ring (70) and shaft seal (71). 4. Install the shaft. Use pliers (C) to install retaining ring and back up washer (69). 5. Install piston rings (73) on each piston (72). If the pistons are to be reused, each piston must be installed in its original ball socket.6. Turn piston stems (72) so that the ball end grooves are parallel with the shaft cut outs and install the piston stems. 7. Install six rollers (62) on the synchronizing shaft.
If parts such as the cylinder block or valve segment are being replaced, the compression of the shim washers on the support pins (and the resulting cylinder block preload) must be determined and the correct thickness of shims installed under the spring washers. See the Testing And Adjusting Manual.
8. Position on tool (A) as shown and install spacer sleeve and yoke (68). Install the original four spring washers and shims on each yoke pin.9. Install synchronizing shaft (61). Apply a liberal amount of petroleum jelly to the pistons and synchronizing shaft to aid in assembly. 10. install the bearing ring. 11. Install two needle bearings (57) in the cylinder block. 12. Install support pin and spring (56) in the cylinder block. 13. Install
