Rework Procedure
1. Download the new 339-7731 Software from SIS. Use Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to begin flashing the new software to the tractor engine ECM. Proceed to the next step while the new software is being installed.
2. Disconnect the ether line from the 7J-5606 Atomizer.
3. Remove the 7J-5606 Atomizer. This part will not be reused.

4. Install a new 280-2562 Atomizer and 3B-6768 Bushing. Orient atomizer as shown in Images 1.1.1 and 1.2.1. Note: The orifice arrow mark on the atomizer will not be visible when assembled. Marking the atomizer on the hex surface 180 degrees opposite the surface with the arrow mark prior to installation may help with setting proper orientation.

5. Disconnect the ether line from the 3E-6333 Ether Control Valve. The 5P-6315 Elbow, 5P-6314 Sleeve, and 5P-6313 Nut will not be reused.
6. Remove the 3E-6333 Ether Control Valve. This part will not be reused.
7. Install a new 239-1134 Ether Control Valve.
8. Install a new 230-1434 Control Fitting.
9. Confirm tractor engine software flash file update was completed successfully.

10. Refer to the image above. To set the Ether Solenoid Configuration parameter, use Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to select the tractor engine configuration screen. Under Configuration Group 1, set the "Ether Con" parameter to "2" which is the setting for Continuous Flow Solenoid.
In the current version of ET, the "Ether Control" parameter under "Engine Configuration Parameters" will be shown as "Unavailable" regardless of ether configuration. Please disregard this parameter as it is not accurate due to a limitation in the current version of ET. The "Ether Con" parameter under Configuration Group 1 now controls ether status: "0" represents ether not installed, "1" represents pulse flow solenoid, and "2" represents continuous flow solenoid. A request was sent to Cat Electronics to resolve this issue in a future ET release.
11. Check for proper machine operation.
