(1) Transmission (2) Torque converter (3) EnginePower from the diesel engine (3) is sent from the engine flywheel to the torque converter (2) through an arrangement on the flex drive plate.Torque converter (2) features a freewheel clutch that allows the converter stator to freewheel during high speed and during low load conditions. A stator that is freewheeling changes the converter into a fluid coupling for better efficiency at the high speed end. The transmission (1) has the following features: a powershift transmission arrangement, five speeds forward, three speeds in reverse, constant mesh and a countershaft transmission. The transmission contains electrical solenoids in order to shift from the forward direction to the reverse direction. The transmission will shift from first through fifth gears. Fifth gear is automatically engaged from fourth gear when the engine speed reaches a set speed.The direction and speed are changed manually by the operator with the speed/direction control lever which is mounted on the left side of the steering column. The speed/direction control lever is a dual function lever. The selection of the gear is made by twisting the lever. You lift the lever upward in order to select the FORWARD position. You push the lever downward in order to select the REVERSE position.
