Measure the drive shaft and bearing assembly to determine the thickness of shim (20) that will be used under the shaft seal cover. Refer to the Testing & Adjusting module for the proper measuring procedure.Measure the center pin, spring collar, cylinder barrel and control plate to determine the proper size of spring collar (10) to be used. Refer to the Testing & Adjusting module for the proper measuring procedure.1. Check the condition of all parts of the elevator motor. If any of the parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.2. Assemble the shaft group. Heat the inner bearing cone, and install it on the shaft. Be sure the bearing cone is seated against the shoulder on the shaft. Install the inner bearing cup over the inner bearing cone. Lower the temperature of the outer bearing cup, and install it in the bearing ring. Install the bearing ring on the shaft with the outer bearing cup facing out. Heat the outer bearing cone, and install it on the shaft. Be sure the bearing cup is seated properly.3. Install the bearing lock nut on the shaft. Using Tool (F), tighten the bearing lock nut. Tighten the bearing lock nut to obtain a shaft running torque of 1.1 to 1.5 N m (10 to 13 lb ft). Lubricate the bearings. 4. Put shaft group (4) in position on a section of pipe or wood blocks as shown. Put center pin (2), ring (3) and retainer plate (1) in position on shaft group (4). 5. Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock on seven screws (5) that hold the retainer plate to the drive shaft group. Install the screws to hold retainer plate (1) to the shaft group. Put three pistons (6) in position to align retainer plate (1). Tighten the seven screws to a torque of 15.5 1.5 N m (12 1 lb ft). Remove three pistons (6) from the assembly.
All pistons must be installed with the identification marks facing toward the flat end of the piston or the elevator motor will not operate properly.
6. The piston rings are spherical and must be installed with identification marks (7) facing toward the flat end of piston(6). Using Tool (A), install upper piston ring (8).7. Using Tool (A), install the lower piston ring with identification marks (7) facing toward the flat end of piston (6).8. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 for all seven pistons.9. Rotate the piston rings so the end gaps of the upper and lower piston rings are 180 degrees apart. 10. Put spring collar (10) and four Belleville in the center pin bore of cylinder barrel (9). 11. Apply clean hydraulic oil to seven pistons (12) and in the piston bores in the cylinder barrel. Install the seven pistons in the cylinder barrel as shown. 12. Apply clean hydraulic oil on the center pin and in the center pin bore of the cylinder barrel. Put the shaft group in a horizontal position as shown. Put the cylinder
