Service Brake
The service brakes are controlled by a foot pedal. Push the pedal (2) down to slow or stop the machine. Deceleration depends on how hard the pedal is pressed. The service brake can be used in conjunction with the transmission neutralizer switch (1). When the switch is in the ON position the transmission is automatically switched to neutral if a firm pressure is applied to the brake pedal, allowing a higher engine speed for improved hydraulic response. This mode of operation should only be used when the boom is retracted and below horizontal. When the switch is in the OFF position, the transmission remains engaged when the service brake is applied. The inset shows the position of switch (1) on TH62 machines.Parking Brake
The parking brake is controlled by a hand operated lever. Pull the lever fully up to engage the parking brake.Push in the button on the front of the hand grip and push the lever down to disengage the parking brake. When the parking brake is engaged the transmission is neutralized.Secondary Brake
The parking brake also functions as a secondary brake. The secondary brake must be used if the service brake fails to stop the machine.Transmission Control
Transmission Control (1) - Controls machine direction and transmission speed selection. Forward (F). Push the lever fully forward to select forward movement. Neutral (N). The mid position is neutral. Reverse (R). Pull the lever fully back to select reverse movement. The direction selector must be in the neutral position before the engine can be started. Speed Selection. There are four transmission speeds. These are indicated on the collar (2). Rotate the control (1) until the required speed is opposite the line. All four speeds can be selected for forward travel, and the first three speeds can be selected for reverse travel.Accelerator
Push the pedal down to increase the engine speed.
