Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin. At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the cooling system pressure cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the cooling system pressure cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.

Clamp accumulator (1) to a suitable work bench and remove valve (2) .
In a clockwise direction, screw end caps (3) and (4) in a small amount in order to remove the pressure on the locking pins (not shown). This can be done by using a suitable prybar and two bolts that are positioned 180 degrees from each other.
Remove the labels that are located at each end of the cylinder.
Insert a small, thin screwdriver blade in the end of the cylinder and push the locking pins back into the tube in order to unscrew the end caps.
Remove end caps (3) and (4) .
Remove O-ring seals (5) and (6) .

Push piston (7) out of accumulator (1) in the direction of the fluid side.
Remove piston seals (8), (9), (10) and (11) .Assembly Procedure

Heat seal (9) to 150 °C (302 °F). Use Tooling (A) in order to install seal (9). Install the seal with the shoulder toward the oil end of the accumulator.
Repeat Step 1 for seals (10), (8) and (11) in that order.Note: The ends of
