DRIVER 3D8835 - Caterpillar

1. Put identification marks on wires (2) and disconnect them from the alternator.2. Loosen two nuts (1) on the belt tightener adjustment rod.3. Remove alternator vee belt (3) from the alternator drive pulley.4. Remove bolt (4) and disconnect the belt tightener adjustment rod from the alternator. 5. Remove bolt (5) and alternator (6) from the mounting bracket.Install Alternator
1. Put alternator (2) on the mounting bracket and install bolt (1) that holds it. 2. Connect the belt tightener adjustment rod to the alternator and install bolt (5) that holds it.3. Install alternator vee belt (3) on the alternator drive pulley.4. Make an adjustment of the vee belt tension with a belt tension gauge such as Borroughs Tool Company Part No. BT-33-72C. Initial belt tension for a new belt is 534 22 N (120 5 lb.). Used belt tension for a belt that has more than 30 minutes of operation at rated speed of the engine is 400 44 N (90 10 lb.).5. Tighten adjusting nuts (4) to a torque of 150 20 N m (111 15 lb.ft.).6. Connect wires (6) to the alternator as shown.
