This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS5478" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the July 11, 1998 (Revised October 1998) Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Service Claim Allowances.

The rear wheel assembly on certain 793 and 793B Trucks; and 0R9046, 0R8595, 0R8287, and 0R3818 Wheel Groups may crack in the wrapper plate.

Reference Special Instructions SEHS9364 "Off-Highway Truck Rear Wheel Salvage."
If a crack is detected, remove the outer tire and repair the wheel while in place on the truck.
Service Claim Allowances
This is a 8-hour job per wheel.
If there has been a previous repair in which the customer participated, part age will apply. Retain a copy of the previous repair invoice in the dealer's records for audit purposes, and specify repair date and machine hours in the "Additional Comments" section of the warranty claim.
Dealer must note on CCR (Core Credit Request) the wheel assembly is damaged, reference the PS5478 and warranty claim number. All the necessary paperwork should be filled out according to Caterpillar Core Acceptance Guidelines, Form No. SELD0072. Return damaged cores to REMAN as soon as possible.
