VIBRATORY COMPACTOR,
Information:
Ride Control (If Equipped)
The ride control feature is enabled when the operator places the ride control switch in the ON or AUTO positions. In the ON position, ride control is activated all the time and the transmission control energizes the ride control solenoid continuously. In the AUTO position, ride control is activated and deactivated depending on the machine ground speed. When the ground speed increases above approximately 6 mph, ride control is activated. When the ground speed decreases below approximately 5.5 mph, ride control is deactivated. As ride control is activated and deactivated the ride control solenoid is energized and deenergized.Dual Horsepower (If Equipped)
The dual horsepower feature allows the transmission control to select one of two different engine horsepower modes for the engine to operate in. The transmission control selects which horsepower mode the engine should operate in. This is based on which transmission gear is activated and the engine speed. Low horsepower can only be activated when the transmission is in first gear. If the transmission is in first gear, low horsepower mode is activated when the engine speed is above 2000 rpm. When the engine speed falls below 1800 rpm, high horsepower is activated. The transmission control energizes the dual horsepower solenoid when high horsepower mode is activated.Diagnostic Operation (Control Without A Display)
When a fault is detected in the transmission control system, the control sends diagnostic information to the monitoring system. The monitoring system is used to display diagnostic information for the transmission control. For information about displaying diagnostic information on the monitoring system see Caterpillar Monitoring System, Form No. SENR6717 or the Computerized Monitoring System (CMS), Form No. SENR5247. The monitoring system service manual should only be used to display the transmission control faults. Use the Testing And Adjusting portion of this manual to troubleshoot the faults for the transmission control.Diagnostic Operation (Control With A Display)
Display Modes
Electronic Transmission Control Display
(1) Power indicator (green). (2) Readout (component identifier and failure mode identifier). (3) Service mode indicator (yellow). (4) Fault present indicator (red). The control has three different display modes. The three display modes are: * Normal Mode (Mode 0)* Service Mode (Mode 1)* Test Mode (Mode 2)When power is applied, the control enters normal mode. To enter the other modes, the service and clear inputs are grounded at the same time. This causes the mode numbers (0 through 2) to scroll on readout (2). When ground is removed from the service and clear inputs, the control enters the mode which corresponds to the number that is presently shown. For example; removing ground when mode number "- 1 -." is shown on readout (2), causes the control to enter service mode. Each time "- 0 -." is shown, the scrolling stops. The service and clear contacts must be opened from ground, then closed to ground, to scroll the modes again. The service connector, located within the operator compartment, provides access to the service and clear inputs. Connector contact 1 is the service input and contact 2 is the clear
