Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Disconnect tube assembly (1) and grease hose assembly (2) .
Remove cover (3) .

Use Tooling (A) to raise the front corner of the machine that is opposite of the side that is being worked on.

Attach a suitable lifting device and Tooling (H) to equalizer bar (4) .

Use Tooling (B) to remove pin (5) (not shown).

Use Tooling (C), Tooling (H), and a suitable lifting device to support equalizer bar (4) .

Remove bolt (6) .

Use Tooling (D) to remove pin assembly (7) .

Reposition equalizer bar (4) and reposition the suitable lifting device.
Remove equalizer bar (4). The weight of equalizer bar (4) is approximately 227 kg (500 lb).

Remove spacer (8) and seal (9). Repeat for the opposite side.

Use Tooling (E) to remove bearing (10) (not shown).

Remove four seals (11) .

Use Tooling (F) to remove retaining rings (12) .
Use Tooling (G) in order to remove bearings (13) .Installation Procedure
Install equalizer bar (4) in the reverse order of removal.
Use Tooling (J) to install bearings (13) .
Use Tooling (K) to install four seals.
Use Tooling (L) to install bearing (10) (not shown).
