Disassembly And Assembly
Removing or installing spider drive, retainer washer and bolts.1. Remove the retaining bolt from the end of the input shaft and remove the retaining washer, shims and rubber ring.
Removing spider drive.2. Install gear puller on the drive spider, placing a protective steel disc over the input shaft and remove the drive spider.
Removing or installing hydraulic pump retaining bolts.
Hydraulic pump removed.3. Remove the four bolts that fasten the hydraulic pump to the manifold assembly and remove the pump and gasket.
Removing screen cover filter.
Removing or installing screen filter.4. Remove the bolt securing the plug cover to the manifold, and install a 3/8-16 UNC eyebolt into the tapped hole provided on the plug cover to ease removal of it. Remove the strainer filter.
Removing or installing cover to manifold.5. Remove the four bolts that fasten the cover on front of forward clutch to manifold.
Removing or installing bolts on manifold assembly.6. Remove the four bolts still securing the manifold to the rear housing.
Removing manifold assembly.7. Insert a pinch bar between manifold and rear housing to separate the manifold from rear housing.
Removing piston rings.8. Remove the piston ring from the end of both shafts.
Place transmission on wooden blocks.9. Turn the unit rear side down on suitable wood blocks to have the front SAE adapter horizontal.
Removing or installing front housing.10. Remove the 11 bolts securing the SAE adapter to front housing.
Separate housing with forcing screws.11. Remove the 13 bolts that fasten the front housing to the rear housing. Use two forcing screws installed on the front housing to separate it from rear half housing.
Removal of outer bearing races on front half housing. (Remove only if necessary).12. Use appropriate tooling for bearing removal.
