Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide"for tools and supplies to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations.
Extend the extenders. Place the screed on a flat surface.

Disconnect hose assemblies (4) from hydraulic cylinder assembly (1) .
Remove nut (2) and ring (3) .

Remove bolts (5). Pull hydraulic cylinder assembly (1) outward from the frame.

Possible injury can result when removing the retaining ring and spring.Spring force will be released when the retaining ring is removed.Be prepared to hold the cylinder assembly as the retaining ring is removed.
Use Tooling (A) to remove retaining rings (7). Remove pin (6), spacers (8), and plate (9) from hydraulic cylinder assembly (1) .

Remove the bolts, plate (10), and plate (11) .

Install plate (10), plate (11), and the bolts.

Install pin (6), spacers (8), and plate (9) to hydraulic cylinder assembly (1). Use Tooling (A) to install retaining rings (7) .

Push hydraulic cylinder assembly (1) inward from the frame. Install bolts (5).

Pull hydraulic cylinder assembly (1) through the frame. Install ring (3) and nut (2) .
Connect hose assemblies (4) to hydraulic cylinder assembly (1) .
