(2) Striker
With the gas struct attached, close the door on the cab.
Locate striker (2) in latch assembly (1). Striker (2) must be centered vertically in the jaws of latch assembly (1). Striker (2) must engage the jaws of latch assembly (1) smoothly. Striker (2) must not guide the door upward. Striker (2) must not guide the door downward. Striker (2) must not interfere with the jaws of latch assembly (1) or the case of latch assembly (1).
If adjustment is required, open the door. Adjust striker (2) by adding or removing striker shims.
Check the secondary position and the primary position for latch assembly (1). The primary position for latch assembly (1) occurs when the door is fully closed and the door is fully latched. The secondary position for latch assembly (1) occurs when the door is latched but the jaws are not in the primary latch position.
If the primary position for latch assembly (1) is not achieved, loosen striker (2).
Adjust striker (2) until the primary position of latch assembly (1) is achieved and less than 22 N (4.9 lb) of force is required to open the door from the outside.
Torque the striker.Note: The hinge for the door may also need to be adjusted to achieve the primary position for latch assembly (1) and the correct seal for the door.Note: Be careful not to adjust latch assembly (1) so that the door is fully closed against the seal with latch assembly (1) in the secondary position.
Lubricate latch assembly (1) and striker (2) with a dry lubricant.Note: Do not use a wet lubricant to lubricate latch assembly (1) or striker (2).
