Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove oil pan drain plug (2) and the O-ring seal. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal.
Remove bolts (1) that hold engine oil pan (3) on the cylinder block.
Remove engine oil pan (3) and gasket (4) .Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Clean all surfaces thoroughly. Inspect the condition of the gasket. Replace the gasket, if necessary.

Install gasket (4) and engine oil pan (3) .
Install bolts (1) in engine oil pan (3). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft).
Install the O-ring seal and oil pan drain plug (2). Tighten the drain plug to a torque of 34 N m (25 lb ft).
Fill the engine oil pan to the correct level that is indicated on the engine oil level gauge.Note: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.
