Ensure that all adjustments and repairs that are carried out to the fuel system are performed by authorised personnel that have the correct training.Before begining ANY work on the fuel system, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information and High Pressure Fuel Lines" for safety information.Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Cleanliness of Fuel System Components" for detailed information on the standards of cleanliness that must be observed during ALL work on the fuel system.
A problem with the components that transport fuel to the engine can cause low fuel pressure. This can decrease engine performance.
Check the fuel level in the fuel tank. Ensure that the vent in the fuel cap is not filled with dirt.
Check all fuel lines for fuel leakage. The fuel lines must be free from restrictions and faulty bends. Verify that the fuel return line is not collapsed.
Install new fuel filters.
Cut the old filter open with a suitable filter cutter. Inspect the filter for excess contamination. Determine the source of the contamination. Make the necessary repairs.
Operate the hand priming pump (if equipped). If excessive resistance is felt, check that there is fuel in the fuel return line to the tank.Measuring Fuel Leakage Past the Fuel Injectors
If there is excessive fuel leakage past the electronic unit injectors, refer to Special Instruction, KENR6938, "High Leakoff of the Electronic Unit Injector".
