Remove four allen head screws (1) and remove compensator valve (2) from the head. Remove the plug and the O-ring seal from the head.
If necessary, disassemble compensator valve (2) .Reference: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Compensator Valve - Disassemble" in this module.

Remove six allen head screws (3) and remove head (4) from the pump.

Remove seat (5), spring (6), and poppet (7) from the head.Note: Heat the head to 121 °C (250 °F) in order to remove rods (8) and (9) .
Remove rod (8) .
Remove control rod (9) .
Remove the O-ring seals from the rods.
If necessary, remove pin (10) and the cup from the head.

Remove bearing (14), shims (15), and valve plate (13) .
Remove gasket (18) from the face of the housing.
Remove piston (17) .
Remove spring (11) and bias piston (12) .

Remove three screws (19) and cover (20) from the pump housing.
Remove O-ring seal (21) from the cover.

Remove plug (22) and O-ring seal (23) from the pump housing.

Remove two allen head screws (24) from each side.
Remove bearing (25) and spacer (26) from each side.Note: The internal components of the piston pump are machined to fine tolerances. Take care to protect the surfaces of these components during the maintenance procedure.

Mark pistons (28) and slipper retainer (29) for correct installation.
Remove barrel (27), pistons (28), and slipper retainer (29) as a unit from the housing.
Remove nine pistons (28) and slipper retainer (29) from the barrel.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Use tool (A) and a press to disassemble barrel (27). Compress spring (31) until tool (A) is below retaining ring (33). Remove the retaining ring and slowly release the compression on the spring.
Remove spring (31) and washers (30) and (32) from barrel (27) .

Remove swashplate (35) from the housing.
Turn over the housing. Remove the two retaining rings and lip seal (39) from the drive end of the pump.Note: Note the positions of the seals before removal for correct installation.
Use a soft hammer to remove shaft (34) from the housing. Remove other seal (39) and bearing cup (38) from the housing.
Remove bearing (36) from the shaft and remove two stops (37) from the swashplate.
Remove two screws (40) and two bearings (41) from the housing.
