Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.In order to prevent possible injury, perform the following procedure before testing and adjusting any of the machine hydraulic systems.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Park the machine on a smooth, level surface. The location should also be dry and free of debris. Stop the engine.
Move the steering frame lock to the LOCKED position.
Permit only one operator on the machine. All other personnel should be kept away from the machine.
Lower the bucket and/or work tools to the ground.
Engage the parking brake.
Stop the engine.
Depress the brake pedal repeatedly. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the braking system.Note: If the machine is equipped with electrohydraulic controls, turn the engine start switch key to the ON position before performing Step 8 and Step 9. Turn the engine start switch key back to the OFF position after completing Step 8 and Step 9.
Move the implement control levers several times through the full range of travel. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the implement hydraulic system.
Turn the steering wheel several times in both directions in order to relieve the pressure in the steering system.
Push in the plunger for the hydraulic tank breaker relief valve until all pressure is released.Note: If the machine is not equipped with a hydraulic tank breaker relief valve, the hydraulic tank cap may be removed slowly in order to relieve tank pressure.
Remove the old 237-9874 Secondary Steering Pump and Electric Motor . Follow the procedure that is described in Disassembly and Assembly, RENR4323, "950G Series II Wheel Loader, 962G Series II Wheel Loader, and IT62G Series II Integrated Toolcarrier Machine Systems", "Secondary Steering Pump and Electric Motor - Remove and Install".

Install the new 275-8544 Secondary Steering Pump and Electric Motor (1) in place of the old 237-9874 Secondary Steering Pump and Electric Motor . Refer to Illustration 1 and Illustration 2.
Install one 6V-9877 Elbow , one 6V-9746 O-Ring Seal , and one 3K-0360 O-Ring Seal at location (2) on the drain port of the new pump. Refer to the orientation that is shown
