Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Open the small access door on the right side of the cab platform. Press hydraulic tank breaker relief valve (1) in order to relieve any tank pressure.

Note: On the 826G Series II Landfill Compactor, remove the three bolts and swing the protective guard outward in order to access the hydraulic oil filters.
Remove covers (2) and (3) for the hydraulic oil filters.
Inspect the seal on each cover and replace the cover seal, if necessary.
Remove the two filter elements. Dispose of the filter elements properly.
Remove the screen for each filter element. Wash the screens in a clean, nonflammable solvent.
Install the screens and the new filter elements.
Install the covers of the hydraulic oil filters.
