Perform the following procedure for preparing the machine before replacing the fuel level sender:
Move the machine to a hard and level surface.
Engage the parking brake and ground the implements. Chock the wheels (in case of wheeled excavator).
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
Lock out and tag out main power supply.Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual of the machine being serviced to perform proper shutdown and prepare for maintenance procedures.Installation Procedure
Perform the following procedure to replace the fuel level sender:

(1) Fuel Level Sender
Locate the fuel tank and fuel level sensor. Refer to Illustration 1.
Drain fuel from the tank and ensure that the level is below the fuel sensor mounting location.
Disconnect the old fuel level sensor harness connector from the machine harness.
Remove five 099-2374 Bolts and five 8T-0328 Hard Washers.
Remove the sensor from fuel tank along with the gasket.
Utilizing a scraper and a rag, remove sealant residue from the tank. Wash and dry the flange surface.Note: Make sure that the surface of the tank is clean and dry.
Install a new 525-7103 Fuel Level Sender As and a 359-8335 Rubber Gasket into the fuel tank using five 099-2374 Bolts.

Torque pattern
(2) Bolt
(3) Washer
Tighten the 5 bolts in star pattern (1-2-3-4-5) using torque of 1.4 0.10 N m (1.0 0.07 lb ft). Verify the value after initial torque to avoid gasket compression. Refer to Illustration 2.

On the machine harness, if the DT plugs seal is swollen from absorbing moisture, replace the plug seal with a 155-2261 Plug Lock Wedge. Refer to Illustration 3.
Connect the sensor connector to the machine harness connector.
Restore the machine power. Start the machine and confirm that there are no fuel leaks.
In the operator station (cab) display, verify that the fuel level indication is correct.
Use Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) to check for any diagnostic codes related to sensor installation.
Restore the machine to normal operating condition.
