Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove".
Remove the fuel filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filter Base - Remove and Install".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove elbow (1) from exhaust manifold (2) .

Remove the nuts and spacers from studs (3) . Remove exhaust manifold (2) .

Remove liners (4) and the gaskets.Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Before assembly, check the condition of the gaskets, the liners, the studs, and the nuts. If the parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
Apply Tooling (A) to the studs for the exhaust manifold. If the studs were removed from the cylinder head, install the studs in the cylinder head. Tighten the studs to a torque of 35 5 N m (26 4 lb ft).

Install the gaskets and liners (4) .

Apply Tooling (B) to the outside diameter of the male ends of exhaust manifold (2) . Apply clean engine oil to the female ends of exhaust manifold (2) .Note: Discard the nuts after use. Use new nuts for installation.
Position exhaust manifold (2) on studs (3) . Install the spacers and nuts on studs (3) .
Tighten the nuts for the exhaust manifold in a numeric sequence to a torque of 38 5 N m (28 4 lb ft).

Install the fuel filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filter Base - Remove and Install".
Install the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install".
