The 994F cooling system utilizes an engine driven fan. This means that the higher the engine RPM, the higher the fan speed and more cooling is available. Overheating of the power-train and hydraulics systems can occur in high ambient conditions if engine RPM is not maintained at high idle.Solution
During operation of the 994F, Caterpillar recommends maintaining the engine RPM at high idle. This recommendation can be accomplished two ways. The first would be to use the right pedal to maintain high idle engine RPM and modulate the impeller clutch. The second would be to utilize throttle lock and modulate the impeller clutch during machine operation. Both of these options will maximize cooling performance during machine operation.
